Dr. Aashish Mathur is a distinguished academic and entrepreneur, in addition to his role as a Professor at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dr Mathur is also serving as co-founder and CEO of Neanic Solutions Pvt Ltd, a company working to provide nanotechnology-based healthcare solutions.

 

He embarked on his journey at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in 2020, following a distinguished tenure at Amity University, where he had been a vital part of the academic community since 2013. Prior to his roles in academia, Dr. Mathur honed his research skills as a research associate at the Nanotechnology and Integrated Bio-Engineering Center (NIBEC) at the University of Ulster, UK, from 2010 to 2012.

 

Dr. Mathur's educational foundation began at Central School in Armapur, Kanpur, India, where he completed his schooling in the year 2000. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in electronics in 2003, followed by a Master's degree in electronics in 2005, both from Kanpur University. Driven by his passion for nanotechnology, he pursued his M.Tech in the field at Amity University, graduating with distinction in 2007.

 

In pursuit of academic excellence, Dr. Mathur was awarded the prestigious Vice Chancellor's Research Scholarship (VCRS) by the University of Ulster (UU). He embarked on his doctoral journey at NIBEC, UU in 2007, focusing on carbon-based materials and microfluidic devices. His research contributions were substantial, with over 110 research articles published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals, with over 1900 citations; h-index - 24, i-10 index -57 and numerous presentations at national and international conferences. In recognition of his innovative work, Dr. Mathur has filed 26 patents, one of which has been successfully transferred to industry, while others are poised for technology transfer to relevant sectors. He has been an inspiring mentor to many undergraduate and postgraduate students, both in India and abroad, and is currently supervising five Ph.D. candidates at UPES.

 

Dr. Mathur's research endeavors have been significantly funded by national and international organizations, including DST, ICAR, and UKIERI, accumulating over INR 20 million in research grants. His outstanding contributions to the scientific community were recognized when he was honored with the INSA Young Scientist Fellowship in 2019. He was also the recipient of the prestigious ‘Careers360 2nd Faculty Research Award’ for the Most Outstanding Researcher in the country in 2023.

 

Completing his Ph.D. in 2011, Dr. Mathur was celebrated as the Student of the Year for that year. His commitment to academic excellence extended beyond research, as he actively participated in various university committees, including the Research Degree Committee, Research Graduate School Board, and the Skills and Training Committee. Additionally, Dr. Mathur has lent his expertise to numerous consultancy projects with industry leaders, including Schrader, Heartsine, and Intellisense.

 

A polished and engaging speaker, Dr. Mathur's presentation skills have earned him several accolades. He received the Best Poster Presentation award from the UK Society for Biomaterials (UKSB) in 2009, the same award from the Northern Ireland Biomedical Engineering Society (NIBES) in 2010, and the Best Oral Presenter award from the Institute of Materials (IOM) in 2011.

 

Beyond his academic and research pursuits, Dr. Mathur has cultivated strong collaborations with national and international centers of excellence in research, fostering connections with institutions like IIT Mumbai, the University of Cambridge, the Open University in the UK, and Ulster University, among others. These partnerships have enriched his multidisciplinary approach to research.

 

Dr. Mathur's commitment to societal well-being extends to his role as the regional secretary for the Art of Living Foundation in Northern Ireland, UK, and his ongoing volunteer work in India. The organization's mission centers on developing a stress-free society and engaging in activities related to health, education, sustainable development, conflict resolution, and disaster relief. Dr. Mathur actively contributes to organizing courses on yoga, breathing, and meditation for stress elimination and self-development, while also providing education and trauma relief in regions affected by disaster and trauma. The Art of Living Foundation operates in 155 countries worldwide, and Dr. Mathur plays a pivotal role in advancing its noble mission.

 

A seasoned educator, prolific researcher, and dedicated entrepreneur, Dr. Mathur's work continues to make a significant impact in the academic and business spheres, solidifying his reputation as a dynamic and influential figure in the field.
